William Davis

William Davis, Professor of Composition and Bassoon at the University of Georgia School of Music, Athens, Georgia, USA, earned the Bachelor of Music and the Master of Music Degrees at the University of Kansas, Lawrence, Kansas, USA. William was awarded the Doctor of Musical Arts Degree from the Eastman School of Music, Rochester, New York. His composition teachers have included John Pozdro, Warren Benson, and Samuel Adler. His published compositions include works for soloists, chamber ensembles, chorus, and symphonic band. William Davis' compositions have been performed by the Macon Symphony Orchestra, the San Antonio Symphony Orchestra, and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. Davis' Declarations for Soprano Saxophone and Piano received its World Premiere Performance at the 1998 National Conference of the North American Saxophone Alliance by the Fischer-Thomas Duo, Kenneth Fischer, soprano saxophone and Martha Thomas, Piano.
