Srdan Dedic

Srdan Dedic was born in Zagreb in 1965. After studying piano at high school in November of 1989 he graduated in composition from the Zagreb Music Academy in the class of Prof. Stanko Horvat. All chamber compositions he wrote while still a student have been performed by leading Yugoslav ensembles and soloists, and recorded for Zagreb Radio Television.

Since 1987 he has been taking part in the Days of Yugoslav Music and in 1989 he became a member of the Association of Croatian Composers. In April 1988 he performed his Concerto Movement for piano and chamber orchestra with the Zagreb Philharmonic. In June 1988 he won first prize at the International Rostrum of Composers in Paris organized by UNESCO's International Music Council in the category of authors below thirty for his Snake Charmer for bass clarinet solo. As synthesizer player he appeared with the Zagreb Philharmonic and Zagreb Soloists, and with ACEZANTEZ Ensemble for contemporary music. He composed incidental music for the Zagreb Television, Children's Theatre Tresnja, Banja Luka National Theatre, and the score for the film "The Way It Is", a Yugoslav-American coproduction.
