Colin J.P. Homiski

Colin J.P. Homiski is currently completing a doctorate at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, MA. His awards include the 1996 Tindall Hutchinson National Composers Prize, 2nd prize in the 1997 Washington International String Quartet Competition, and 2nd prize in the 1998 Debussy Trio Foundation International Competition, 2nd prize in the 1999 International Horn Society Composition Competition as well as several grants from the ASCAP Foundation. He has also received grants from the Richardson, Rabb, FMMC and Botolph Foundations. He has studied composition with Robert Cogan, Osvaldo Golijov, John Heiss, Lee Hyla, and Shirish Korde, and has also worked with George Crumb, Sebastian Currier, Frederic Rzewski, and Bright Sheng. His music has been programmed at festivals and institutes such as New Music Miami, Bowdoin Summer Music Festival, Cincinnati Conservatory of Music Festival, Oregon Festival of American Music, University of Maryland, Harvard University, College of the Holy Cross, Juilliard and George Washington University. He is currently writing a chamber opera for the Opera of Atlanta 2000-1 season.
