Raffaele Marcellino graduated from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music with merit in 1985. Since that time his music has been performed by many prominent ensembles and organisations including Synergy, the Sydney, Adelaide and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestras, The Sydney Front, Pipeline, The Australian National Academy of Music, The Australian Museum, Adelaide Festival, Melbourne Festival, Nouvel Ensemble Modern, The Song Company and the Seymour Group.
In 1995 Raffaele was appointed to the staff of the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music and served as Director from 1996 to 1998, resuming normal teaching duties in 1999. Publications of Raffaele's music are availble through Currency Press, Opus House Press, Red House Editions, Grevillea Press and ABC Classics. Recent premieres include the The Art of Resonance: Tuba Concerto, performed by Steve Rossé and the Sydney Symphony Orchestra; On Eagles Wings at the International Tuba Conference University of Minnesota; Maze for 15 musicians performed by the Seymour Group; and Zerfließe mein Herze performed by Ian Munro, Christian Wojtowicz, Tom O'Kelly and David Malone; Voicejam and Video at the 1998 Adelaide Festival; and Logos by the Sydney Chamber Choir. In 1999 Raffaele was awarded the Paul Lowin Song Cycle prize for his work Canticle that was premiered at the 1999 Brisbane Cathedrals Week Festival.
