Jesús Torres was born in Zaragoza (Spain) on July 15th 1965. He studied at the Conservatorio Superior de Madrid violin, piano, harmony and counterpoint. At the same time, he attended several seminars of musical analysis given by Luis de Pablo. He left the conservatory in 1986 and his year he begun to study composition with Francisco Guerrero, with whom he works until 1988.
He has received the following prizes:
He has received commissions from official and private institutions such as: INAEM (Spanish Ministry of Culture), Gaudeamus Foundation (Amsterdam), Kaleidoscope Foundation (European Union), Young National Orchestra of Spain. His music has been performed in Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Germany, Holland, Denmark, Sweden, Greece, Bulgaria, Ukraine, Japan, Brazil, Venezuela... He has participated in many festivals: Festival de Alicante, Festival de Santander, Jornadas de Arte, Contemporanca de Porto, Festival Nuove Sincronie, Gaudeamus Music Week, Internationale Kulturtage der Stadt Dortmund, World Music Days, Musica Nova, Festival A Tempo... During 1998, he was Composer-in-Residence of the Young National Orchestra of Spain. |
