Paolo Bellomia, chef d'orchestre, est né à Rome (Italie). Il a fait ses études musicales à l'Université de Montréal où il a obtenu une maîtrise en composition dans la classe d'André Prévost. Il a ensuite étudié avec Lorraine Vaillancourt et obtenu un doctorat en interprétation (option direction d'orchestre). Plusieurs fois boursier des fonds FCAR et du Conseil des Arts et des Lettres du Québec, Paolo Bellomia a pu réaliser un stage post-doctoral de deux ans à l'Université d'Hartford et au Mannes College of Music de New York. Il compte parmi ses maîtres Jiri Belolavek (République tchèque), Pierre Boulez (Paris), Carlo-Maria Guilini (Los Angeles), Kirk Trevor (Tennessee), Gustav Meier (Tanglewood), Sixten Ehrling (New York). En 1996-97, il est devenu l'assistant du chef d'orchestre hongrois Peter Eötvös, dans plusieurs pays d'Europe. Depuis 1995, il est régulièrement invité à diriger plusieurs ensembles et orchestres européens et américains: The Pittsburgh New Ensemble, Die Reihe (Vienna), California State University Orchestra (Los Angeles), Microtonal Music Festival (New York), Brown University Orchestra (Providence, RI). Depuis 1991, il est le directeur artistique de l'Ensemble du Jeu Présent et I Cameristi Ottaviani (Ottawa, Canada). Paolo Bellomia was born in Rome (Italy). He has made his musical studies at the University of Montreal where he obtained a master degree in composition in the class of André Prévost. He then studied with Lorraine Vaillancourt and obtained a doctorate in Interpretation (orchestral conducting). He has also become a member of the Fellowship of Conductors in the U.S. Several times grant-holder of the FCAR funds and of the Arts and Letter Council of Quebec, Mr. Bellomia has been able to realize a two years post-doctoral internship under the direction of Master Harold Faberman (University of Hartford, CT) and Michael Charry (Mannes College of Music, New York). He has undertaken several internships and "master-classes" in the best institutions in Europe and in U.S. included. Amongst those masters were: Jiri Belolavek (Czech Republic), Pierre Boulez (Paris), Carlo-Maria Guilini (Los Angeles), Kirk Trevor (Tennessee), Gustav Meier (Tanglewood), Sixten Ehrling (New York). In 1996-97, he became the assistant of the Hungarian conductor Peter Eötvös, in many European countries. Since 1995, he is regurlarly invited to conduct several American and European orchestras: The Pittsburgh New Ensemble, Die Reihe (Vienna), California State University Orchestra (Los Angeles), Microtonal Music Festival (New York), Brown University Orchestra (Providence, RI).
