Vadim Arsky is the winner of the Eldorado Prize in 1992. This prize is the most important music prize in Brazil where all instruments compete together and there is only one winner. As a saxophone player, he has developped a career as a soloist, chamber musician and professor.
He has played with some famous orchestras like: Campinas Symphony Orchestra, Brasilia Symp[hony Orchestra, University of Louisville Symphony Orchestra, Camerata Maksoud Plaza etc. under the baton of some great conductors as Cláudio Santoro, Benito Juarez, David Harman, Simon Blech, Per Brevig, among others. He also is the saxophonist of the Grupo Novo Horizonte, group that is specialized in Brazilian Twentieth-Century Music. Arsky got his Bachelor degree from the University of Brasilia - Brazil and his Masters from the University of Louisville, both in saxophone and studied and had orientation with Luiz Gonzaga Carneiro, Lee Patrick, Michael Tracy and Sigurd Rascher. Since 1994 he is the saxophone professor at the University of Brasilia where he also teaches chamber music, theory, jazz and Bossa Nova studies. In 1995, he founded the Brasilia Saxophone Quartet, one of the first groups of this species in Brazil, which has been performing with great success in Brasilia, São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Goiânia and in 1997, had a tour in Europe playing concerts in Paris (France), Madrid, Barcelona and Valencia (Spain), and which the last one was during the XI World Saxophone Congress. |
