Christopher Kelton

Dr. Christopher Kelton is an active performer and teacher of concert saxophone and jazz/commercial saxophone.

He holds a D.M. in multiple woodwinds from Indiana University, an M.E. from Southwestern Oklahoma State and a B.S. from the University of Illinois. He has studied saxophone with Eugene Rousseau, Fred Hemke, Jack Kripl, Willis Coggins and William R. Hull.

Dr. Kelton has performed as a sideman with Steve Allen, Mel Torme, Doc Severinson, Shari Lewis, Rich Little, Dave Brubeck, Clark Terry, Dan Haerle, Pearl Bailey and Louis Bellson. He has performed as a soloist at regional and international saxophone conventions including the 9th, 10th and 11th World Saxophone Congresses. His students have won awards and competitions at local, state and national levels.

Dr. Kelton is currently serving as Director of Instrumental Activities/Special Lecturer in Jazz at Providence College, Providence, RI, USA. He is also a freelance musician in the Boston area.
