Yiannis Miralis was born in Cyprus and was educated in the USA. He holds a bachelor's and master's degrees in music education from Lawrence University in Wisconsin and Bowling Green State University in Ohio respectively. He studied saxophone with Steve Jordheim, John Sampen and currently Joseph Lulloff and Jim Forger.

He is a doctoral candidate for a degree in music education from Michigan State University. He gave solo recitals in Cyprus, Greece and the USA. He is the baritone player of the Transcontinental Saxophone Quartet with which he gave numerous performances and premieres in Europe and the USA.
