The group includes almost all the types of saxophone (sopranino, soprano, alto, tenor, barytone and basso) and can have from a minimum of 6 to maximum of 14 saxophonists; supported by one or two percussionist and by piano. The members of the group grew up under F.Salime's guidance and they perform concert activity individually obtaining good succes in national competitions. The aim of the group is to let people know the technical, expressive, timbral and virtuostic skills of different types of saxophone. The group's repertory ranges from classic to contemporary music.

The ensemble has already given numerous concerts in Italy and Europe obtainin unanimous consents from the audience and the critics for the high quality of its performances. As well, its members cooperate with the orchestra of S. Cecili Academy in Rome. The group makes use of arrangements developed by Francesco Salime, who also teaches saxophone at the Academy of music S. Pietro a Majella in Naples.

Petrushka is about a puppet who comes to life only to fall agonisingly in love. This work is probably the best introduction to Stravinsky's "Russian" ballets and works just as well in the concert hall as it does on stage.

Stravinsky started work on the score intending it to be a piano concerto! There is also a spectacular solo-piano arrangement of the work.

Stravinsky wanted to complete an orchestral work in which the piano would play the most important part. He wrote: In composing the music I had in my mind a distinct picture of a puppet, suddenly endowed with life, exasperating the patience of the orchestra with diabolical cascades of arpeggios. The orchestra in turn retaliates with menacing trumpet blasts. The outome is a terrible noise which reases its climax and ends in a sorrowful collapse of the poor puppet.

Petrushka is an old, traditional Russian figure, whome Nijinsky described as "the mythical outcast in whom he concentrates the pathos and suffering of life, one who beats his head against the wall but always is cheated and despised and left outside alone.

The music contains many new and inventive musical ideas, eg polyrhythms, polyharmony and polytonality. The music has a sharp, staccato precision about it. Listen to the bi-tonal passes in the second scence with the arpeggios combining the keys of C major and F-sharp major.
