David Branter, soprano saxophone, is a versatile perfomler and conductor who is at home with both classical music and jazz. He has performed and recorded with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, his own group Saxoduo and numerous other ensembles. He is Director of Jazz Ensembles and instructor of saxophone at Vancouver Community College, and is active as a clinician for Yamaha Canada

Tony Sheppard, alto saxophone, graduated from U.B.C. in the Spring of 1995 with a masters degree in music. Since that time he has been active as a performer and clinician in the Vancouver area. In addition to performing with Saxophilia, Tony regularly performs with the Richmond Community Jazz ensemble and with local swing bands like Alex Brown and the Romantic Orchestra. Tony is presently the music director at Richmond Secondary School.

Julia Nolan, tenor saxophone, is a busy soloist and chamber musician in a wide variety of genres. She is featured as a soloist on the CBC Vancouver Orchestra CD "Globetrotting" and has recorded Concerto by Fred Stride, commissioned for her by the CBC. She was recently featured with the CBC Jazz Orchestra playing Jimmy Dorsey's Oodles of Noodle. She has also performed and recorded with the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, Vancouver New Music Society, Vancouver Opera Orchestra and with the "Showboat Orchestra," as well as with the Alan Matheson Septet and in Saxoduo with her husband David Branter. Ms. Nolan is an Adjunct Professor of Saxophone at the University of British Columbia and at Westem Washington University, and a clinician for Yamaha Canada.

Colin MacDonald, baritone saxophone, is a freelance saxophonist and composer living in Vancouver. He is a founding member of the new music group Ensemble Symposium, as well as leading another saxophone quartet, the Pachyderm Quartet, and playing with the Latin dance band Tropicana. Colin received a B. Mus. in saxophone perfommance from U.B.C. in 1993. Future projects include co-directing and writing for a new music chamber orchestra, the Underground Chamber Orchestra, and a spoken-word theatre production called In/Ex-Communicado, exploring different foms of human communication.
