Josh Weirich is currently a senior at Ball State University in Muncie Indiana majoring in Music Education. He currently studies classical saxophone with Dr. George Wolfe and jazz saxophone from Mr. Adrien Re.

Josh divides his time by playing alto saxophone in the University Wind Ensemble and tenor saxophone in Ball State's Jazz Band I and in the Ball State Saxophone Quartet. In 1999 Josh performed at the Midwest conference of the North American Saxophone Alliance and with the Anderson Symphony. Josh has played with notable artists including The Temptations, George Clinton, Randy Brecker, members of the Lincoln Center Jazz Orchestra, Louis Bellson, Tom "Bones" Malone, Bobby Shew and Joe LaBarbara. In addition to school, Josh spends his time teaching saxophone, flute and clarinet to area youths, playing at Cedar Point Amusement Park and freelance playing throughout Indiana and Ohio.

The Lair of Morpheus was commissioned by Josh Weirich. Although the piece is not currently finished being composed, Dr. Purrone and Josh Weirich are working together to create a dramatic piece utilizing extended saxophone techniques and musical contrasts between classical and jazz styles with the saxophone.
