Angela Wyatt teaches in the Eagan, Minnesota, public schools and at Augsburg College in Minneapolis.  Ms. Wyatt received her Master of Music degree in saxophone performance from Northwestern University, where she studied with Frederick Hemke and Jonathan Helton.  She has also studied with Ruben Haugen and at the Academie International d'Ete in Nice, France, with Jean-Marie Londeix.
Commissioned by saxophonists Angela Wyatt and Matt Sinchak, Shadows derives its title from some of the fleeting qualities of the four movements, who present various aspects of the title's different meanings - literally and figuratively. The unusual combination of instruments arose from the four musicians' wish to perform together. And having a piece for all four instruments that wasn't a transcription seemed like a good idea.

Structurally and character-wise, all four movements are quite different, although the continual shifting of instrument groupings occurs throughout the piece.
