Born John Haley Sims. American jazz tenor saxophone . In the 1940's he was associated with some of the more popular bands, such as Benny Goodman's and Woody Herman's. He was part of the four tenor saxes which is associated with the Herman band and come from the writings of Gene Roland. He also had stints with Buddy Rich, Chubby Jackson, Elliot Lawrence, Stan Kenton and Gerry Mulligan's band.
