Abbott, Alain

(b. 09/15/1938, Lille, France)

French accordion virtuoso and composer.

Although I have never heard any of this music, sounds like an interesting personality to investigate. He was the last winner of the 'Prix de Rome' (1968) for his composition Folie et mort d'Ophélie. A virtuoso accordion player, he has worked to establish that instrument as a legitimate classical instrument.

He established the first classical concert accordion class in France.
